Aside from my admiration for Anne, I am an avid hiker and trekker. Last week, I was hiking for two days through Cairngorms National Park and camped next to the ruins of Bynack Lodge, a long deserted house, standing gloriously and proudly surrounded by remote hills and mountains within an earshot of a murmuring stream, seventeen miles from nearest settlement. My imagination was immediately activated and, much like Anne would have no doubt done, I began inventing stories in my mind of a family living there long ago; a loving, tender family, whose hearts are now long-lost to us and whose dreams are now overgrown by grass and whose house has crumbled, but whose love will remain within those ruins forever.
This short 5-minute film below has been imagined, filmed and put together in the spirit of Anne Shirley, Paul Irving and Little Elizabeth. It is the first of a future series of Shorts, five-minute films I shoot inspired by Anne’s spirit.
